Aging is humanity’s greatest success story! But there is an urgency to understand why and how we are getting old… In particular, Aging includes a demographic issue: life expectancy is continuing to increase at an astonishing speed. Each and every one of us gains every day about five hours of life expectancy! That rate is enormous.

Aging and its global implications are a hot topic. The consequences of life-expectancy will be massive, perhaps even more than Climate change or Terrorism. Population aging is going to affect almost every aspect of our lives as well as the obvious matters about healthcare, social care, retirement pensions, etc. It is a success story but we have to work in order to prepare ourselves !

People are ambivalent: do they really want to cope with all the issues involved with aging? Public opinion is generally very negative about aging. People seem to think it only concerns old persons and the public policy makers are slow to address this matter.

In reality, aging is fantastic news for economy! They will be more consumers, who will help growth on a global scale. People are making big mistakes about aging: it is a big question for everyone, and research in that field will benefit today’s babies as well as adults.
