Appointment of the new Head of the AXA Research Fund

Previously Chief Financial Officer of the Institut Telecom, Godefroy Beauvallet has joined the AXA Group on March 1, 2011 to lead the AXA Research Fund, the scientific philanthropy initiative created by AXA to support research focused on understanding and preventing the risks threatening the environment, human life and our societies.
He replaces Anne-Juliette Hermant, appointed Global Head of Learning and Development.

Biography
Godefroy Beauvallet, 39, graduated from Ecole Polytechnique in 1994 and from Télécom ParisTech in 1997. He began his career as an IT Project Manager with Gemplus, then became Associate Banker for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). He joined the French Ministry of Industry in 1997. Between 2000 and 2002, he was Adviser to the Minister for Public Service and State Reform, Michel Sapin. In 2002, he became Assistant Professor and Team Manager at Telecom ParisTech. In 2007, he became CFO and Deputy CEO of Institut Télécom, a group of 6 French engineering and management schools specialized in IT. He is the author of several books and many scientific papers about the use of digital groupware tools in project management and Lean Management.

Pierre-André Chiappori, Professor of Economics at Columbia University, just published a study about the funding of research. He was interviewed on BFM radio to briefly present its results and quoted Henri de Castries and the AXA Research Fund as a model of corporate funding of research.
